I'm planning on using the Pioneer 8" full range driver from Partsexpress and was interested in some TL plans. Can anybody lead me in the right direction?? I don't know how to find line length and all that, so that's why I really want some plans.
Hi, try this site

I have been using Martins calculation for a while now and the results are remarkable.

Yeah, I've been there but I'm still confused on where to start. I just need some plans. I found some for a BIB transmission line for the Pioneer driver but I don't know how to start it out. The height and width will be 10" x 20" ( the Sm is 200 square inches so I just went with 10" x 20") I just don't know how tall to make the enclosure though
The line length is 138"

Hi... "The line length is 138"
Imagine the BIB without the center baffle. Just a tall tapered ‘triangular shape’… the BIB is basically this ‘triangular shape’ folded in half.

In the case of the PioneerB20, the line length is 138 inches. That means the total length of the cabinet unfolded is 138”… by folding it in half you still have a line length of 138” but the actual cabinet inner dims is half, or 69 inches.
You simply halve the line length. Does that make sense?
Godzilla
PS. Yeah 69!

Yeah, I got it all sketched up, L=138". Center of speaker 30" down from the top of the enclosure. The thing is, I didn't know if was supposed to make the inside board 69" long. It makes sense now that I think about it. So now the box will be around 79" tall if the inside piece is 10" from the bottom of the enclosure (a=b=c=depth/2) But is it okay that the width and depth is 10"x20"?
No- inside board 69" long, but inside height of enclosure is 69".
Total height of enclosure will be 69" + baseplate thickness.
Inside depth of enclosure D= sqrt(Sm*sqrt(2)) + inside board thickness
Inside width of enclosure W= Sm/D or
D=sqrt(2)*W = 1.41*W

argh, so what exactly should the dimensions of my TL be then? I'll figure it out, I just want to know exactly. So someone smarter than I, please chime in 😀
yeah, that's where I got my plans from but it doesnt tell you how tall to make it, unless I'm missing something.
Godzilla actually told you it would be 69" tall internal.
Pioneer B20FU20-51FW 8" full range
L = (Line length) 138"
So = Driver 30" down from sealed end of cabinet
Sm = 200"^2
All internal
That means you halve L to get cabinet hight = 69"
Sm is mouth volume or your foot print. I'd suggest using the golden ration 1.618. Then you get out your calculator and plug in numbers to find the other dimensions. 11" x 18" = 198"^2
You can choose those dimensions or come up with your own and more accurate or larger dimension.
Once there you you your internal volume and all internal dimentions. 69" x 11" x 18" .
Last thing to do is to find the length of the internal taper baffle. I'm not going to figure that out, that takes a bit more math, but is not diffucult. My suggestion would be to draw out your plans to scale.

yeah, I got those dimensions once I worked on it....for a while. The inside baffle shouldn't be too hard to find if it's going to be 10" away from the bottom, front and back of the enclosure. It will be 10" away because it's half of the depth (a=b=c=d/2)
