Is a Beta 10 a good candidate for a TL? I'm playing around with the worksheets from quarter-wave.com, which I don't really understand to begin with, and I can't seem to make the far field response very good...

You could use :
L=90cm (35,43in)
ratio=0.35
SO/SL=4*Sd
rport=6cm (2,36in)
Lport=3cm (1,18in)
as a starting point.

BTW, I know how you feel, I spent almost two full days learning how those sheets work. I only succeeded after help from planet10, and after I threw away my preconceived notions of what a TL should be, (i.e. how I used to build them years ago!). 😉

That doesn't look too bad, what does the impedance graph look like?
Don't be upset by the apparent high roll off, TL bass works better with the room, almost as well as bipolar, and you gain quality by no nasty port or box effects.

IMHO you could get better subwoofer drivers for the money.
(though most are not as efficient)
I have it now, and I got it FOR the efficiency. Well, it's for a 3-way, maybe I should have put it in the regular loudspeaker forum... My bad 😀 But it's still doing the job of bass, so I wasn't sure, since my mids and tweet are sealed anyway...
