there is two setup
1st : PC (linux mpd)-> DAC-> Amp ->Speakers....this system sound amazing but sound is too loud...
2nd : PC (linux mpd)-> DAC-> Classe ssp-300 7.1 analogue bypass ->Amp ->Speakers
the 2nd way it makes my sound dull ...unlively in plain language cant live with the second option...
first option is too loud...unless not HARWARE controlled the voice is of the charts...
i need a sound attenuator which will just control the sound without distorting any idea where i can look these.....also i dont have any soldering skilss so lesser the DIY the better for me...

buy a stereo volume potentiometer.
dual track, log law track, 10k, plastic film resistive track, cheap and noiseless.

The advice from AndrewT is spot on, but still it might be an idea to tell us some more details.
Which DAC are you using?
How is the DAC connected to your linux box?
Is your linux box upsampling to 48Khz before sending the signal to the DAC? If it is then make it stop doing that, it will use a cheap and nasty resampling algorithm.
Which amp do you have?

i dont think so it is upsampling right now...to be honest not sure ...i have puppy linux MPD ...and it is not upsampling as per the records not sure...
my dac is Audio widget from DIYaudio for amps i am running this to a DIY 3 way acive speakers...
linux ->DAC->classe analog pass ->behringer dcx2496 -> rotel 6 channel amp -> speakers

DCX has 6 output channels.
Rotel has 6 channels.
The rotel is your attenuator and your amplifier for all six channels.
You cannot and should not insert any other attenuator anywhere in the system.
If you remove the rotel, you will need a 6 channel attenuator and 6 amplifiers.

I doubt it...i dont have any way to volume control on Rotel amp...the rotel is
Rotel RMB-1048
bought it from here
SOLD FS: Rotel RMB-1048 40w 8ch amp $125 SOLD

It looks like you are confirming that the rotel 6 or 8 channel amplifier has no attenuation built in.
In that case you need a 6 channel attenuator between the DCX and the Power Amplifier.

so i cant built an attenuator between DAC and DCX???
