Need some help setting up Raspberry pi with volumio

I have a rasberry pi 4B.
I put Volumio onto a mini mem card.
Where the trouble lies is: I can not figure out how to set up a windows share that Volumio will see and like. This is for music. I Have a 64 gig USB card I would like to use. Or I have a 1T usb drive I would rather use. Which ever will work.
If someone can hold my hand thru this it would be appreciated. Also Ihave a topping D50S DAC. it is not in the list of I2S dacs that volumio shows you but everywhere says its supported so do I use the generic I2S drop down pick?
And if you leave instructions PLEASE do not assume I know my way around a raspberry pi. I do not. Nor do I know linux.

Thank you SO VERY much!

Jeff

Probably better to ask about that over in the 'PC Based' subforum. That's where the RPi and Linux guys tend to hang out.

However since I'm here, for connecting to a Windows Share you might try a google search such as: raspberry pi access windows shared folder - Google Search

For setting up a Windows Share, just google that topic. One main issue you have to decide is whether the share will be public or require a logon (permissions and authentication) to access.

At least if you read the directions and try to understand it then the experts might be more likely to feel you deserve some help. There is an old, classic response in the computer world to people who ask questions without trying to do a little work on their own first: RTFM -- read the manual.

Getting the Windows share to work reliably caused me a lot of problems in the begining.
First off follow this video : How to Fix All Network Sharing Issues-Computer not showing in Network - YouTube
I found that having a username and password to acess the shared folder seemed to work better than leaving the fields in Volumio blank. Lat ly you need to fill in the options feild in volumio and the followin seems to work for me : vers=2.1,ro,dir_mode=0777,file_mode=0777
So , on the windows machine chose the folder or drive you want to share and share it
Follow the instructions in the video to set up the permissions correctly and automatically start the services required for a functioning share.
Fill in the info on Volumio for a CFS (samba) share , including the ip of the windows machine , the shared folder eg D: a name of your choice for the share eg Music and the username and passeord you use to logon to the Windows machine. Fill in the options line ,click save and see if volumio mounts the share by putting a green tick beside it. If the share is mounted then you need to get Volumio to scan the shared folder to list your music. Hope that helps.
