Need some 12v advice

Hey all, I love the forum and all the interesting posts. I have always wanted to build a decent 12v system and I think this is the perfect time to attempt it. Ive been reading up on the topic and watching vids and have some questions before I embark on my build. Thought I would share this video I thought was very helpful: http://archive.org/details/12vsys - 12V Bicycle Sound System Workshop in the UK. : Doug : Free Download & Streaming : Internet Archive

Component and construction questions:

The main type of music I will be using this system for is hard hitting dubstep and drum and bass. A 12" woofer and a tweeter is what I was thinking. Is this a good size? Should I go 3-way?

The main theme that people reiterate is efficiency, efficiency, efficiency. Can someone tell me of some cheap efficient drivers and amps and whatever else I might need that should be efficient?

Would it be easier to just use self-powered speakers vs a seperate amp?

I want the unit to be as small as possible. Is it necessary to build a full size box for the driver? Ive seen bandpass boxes being pulled by bikes but I just want to be loud and the system to be small. Can I get away with a minimalistic box?

What is the practical difference between AGM, wet cell, and gel batteries? Which type is best for long periods of bassy audio? Would a 10ah battery be enough?

Any input would be much appreciated. I hope I get some answers.
