need recommendation on center speaker to use with Acoustimass 6

Hello, I am new to this site and hope to learn from it. My immediate need is some speaker advice.

I have a Bose Acoustimass 6 home theater speaker system, which is driven by a Panasonic SA-HE100 AV Control Receiver (100 watt).

One of the small Bose cubes (I believe they are called "Twiddlers") has fallen apart.
Specifically, it has been knocked around somehow, so that the cone and magnet are falling out of the front of the cube. (Pictures attached)

Bose does not repair these, but they will sell a new cube speaker for $80 USD.
I can fit the pieces together approximately, but the volume is much less than the other 4 cubes. Perhaps someone knows how to repair this?

In any case, I wonder if I could just buy a new 6-8 ohm 100-watt speaker, and wire it directly to the center channel output on the receiver, ignoring the center channel connection coming from the Bose crossover.

Would that work, and would it damage anything ?
Should I use any old speaker or buy one specifically designed as a "center channel"?

Many thanks for any wisdom here!

In keeping with the sound you are used to and not introducing new problems, you could look at fixing this one or purchasing a direct replacement. You could build your own centre channel as a separate project, would you need to match the other channels in level?

The voice coil former is a bit twisted. I doubt it could be made perfect again but you could surely get close and then glue the parts together again after cleaning them up and choosing a suitable glue.
