hi all! I'm in an urge for inputs. I'm 75% done with my DIYP but I still need to add the lcd between the fresnels. The thing is I was planning on projecting at about 10 foot from my projector on a surface about 75'' feet large (4:3). I tried moving the fresnels, projection lens and transparent pciture (for testing purposes) but I never managed to have a picture smaller than something about 100'' if not more...
my Box is 30'' long from the end of the reflector isin't that enough?
plz help, I have to finish this off today, or I'll have to wait another week, thanks for reading.
PS if I just resize the image I guess I'll be losing resolution? If I really cheated and resized the image to half the size, would that make a big quality loss?
peace!

Here is an online focal calculator that will help you figure out your distances.

lol awesome, brb
ok cool, it's been of great help. But It just means I'll have to reconfigure my whole setup 🙁
Important question here, can I put my PJ in an angle different than the projection screen without to much problems? I know it will be stretching the image a bit... what's the best way to come around this problem?
The best now would be for me to put projector very close to the screen, but at an angle so it does NOT block the screen...

If you're refering to placing the projector on the floor and angling it upwards so it doesn't block the screen, then you need to have keystone adjustment. Keystoning only works with a split fresnel design and you can tilt the front fresnel up to 15 degrees to mantain a proper image.
what's a split fresnel design? is it when you have : the bulb / fresnel / lcd/ fresnel / lens?Mikey p said:If you're refering to placing the projector on the floor and angling it upwards so it doesn't block the screen, then you need to have keystone adjustment. that's what I'm using...
so it does work with minor tweaking?
Another question, what's the max recommended disatnce to throw? and thus what's the max projection diag size recommended? (I'm using 400w MH with 15'' LCD & lumen lab basic lenses kit.)

Yes to both questions.

A popular screen size is 100 inch diagonal. Some like a brighter image and have 80 Diag. Others go as big as 120 inch and are happy with that. The final brightness of your projector will depend on how much "tweaking" you do to get the most out of it.
