Need Pair of Passive Near Field Monitor

Hello,
I have migrated from an acoustic piano to a digital stage piano and need a pair of near field monitors. These speakers will be placed each side of the keyboard at the rear of it and point towards me about 08.m from my ears. (Be able to see them out of corner of my eyes)

They need to be as small as possible based i guess a maximum 4/5" driver with a foot print of not much bigger than about 150mm, although they can be upto 0.5m tall. I guess a driver pointing vertically with the sound deflected to the horizontal might also be worth considering?

Any off the shelf speaker would consider, but i am woodwork handy so happy to make a pair if someone can recommend a driver and cabinet design please.

Many thanks imk

Hello Chris and many thanks for your reply.
I guess budget is about £200 or £300 for really nice solution.
As for amplification i have various class D and AB solutions in my man cave, also a graphics EQ PCB i need to make up for tweaking if necessary.
All best Ian

Fair enough.

For a single-driver full-range solution, I like the Mark Audio Alpair drivers. The 12P would be my recommendation, although it might be slightly large for what you're looking for.

If you fancy going for a multi-way speaker, there are many options. You'd need a crossover, which can be tricky without measurement equipment etc.

I have an older pair of Mar-Ken7's on my desktop. Hard to imagine a better near field speaker with this footprint. Maybe this particular design is a little too big (~230mm x 230mm) because of the bamboo ply used, but could have a smaller footprint with thinner baltic birch ply. Current driver would be Alpair A7.3.
