Need new turntable

The OP was looking for a cheap deck under $1000 in today's money if you read my next paragraph I said I would rather spend my money on an old high end deck but yes English grammar has gone down the hill especially in the UK young people are taught modern social dogma before good English .

Is everyone here of the opinion that something like a Technics SP25 with a decent tonearm or an SL1200mkII is no good? Because I think you can find those for less than $650 in good condition most places in the US.

Also there are some good '70s Denon, Kenwood, Pioneer big direct drive decks. No good? Must be belt drive?

My local hifi-dealer (the rep for atc, naim and stuff like this) has very good opinion of the pioneer 1210 clone - give it a decent cartrige and eventually a tonarm-rewire and you got a great gear—according to him...

Well my wife and daughter bought me a turntable. They said that I looked soooooo
Said when Chubb’s (the fate cat),killed my beloved Pro-Ject table. I’m really surprised of how well they did with picking a table
My daughter, said she seen the look on my face. When the table went flying into the ground. She stated that I just stood there. Still as can be, for me if felt like a few seconds. But she said it was more like 15 minutes. Sarah said that she never seen me have such a lost and sad look on my face. She was expecting me to pull my 45 out and end Chubbs life. No, he means more to me then any turntable. Well long store here, sorry. I’m just In shock with what they bought me. Here it is
A new ELAC Miracord 50 Turntable
It’s a pretty sweet table so far. I still have to hook it up . I’ve done all the setup so far with it in the counter.
Let me know what you guys think of it. Not to much info about it, but what I’ve found is pretty positive so far

That is a nice present, and I am sure it will be an upgrade.
Good design from a world class maker of turntables from years ago. I am sure they did their homework and listened to the competition before releasing it. Years of enjoyment.

I am guessing the cartridge tracks at or above 1.5 gramme downforce. the image of the balance weight shows a bit less than that, maybe worth a quick check.

Yes, a very decent unit. Congrats! I'd replace that AT95 cartridge by an appropriate one, maybe from ELAC, the ESG796 HSp for instance 😉.
Best regards!

It's actually an AT91, basically the same as the budget AT3600 conical.
They're not bad, just inexpensive.
The Elac TT that I checked on was overpriced for its specs, they apparently dropped the price in half.
Typical specs for a lot of TT's made today.
