Just found a pair of giant Japanese made by Toshiba 5G84 tubes with 4 pin base (3 big pins and 1 smaller in diameter) with a thick metal electrode on the top of the bulb.
The inside structure looks similar to a kind of regulator (?) - sorry I can't post pix at the moment.
Does anybody know what kind of tube is that and can provide me with more technical info? Thanks in advance.

However the 5G84 letter is clearly visible, but it can be a Japanese modification of the 5684 tube.
As far as I can see it's not suitable for audio applications for sure - what a shame for this beautiful tube
