thank you guys, what about running them with the 18sound 2400's?
would the inuke be ok running four of those cabs at 4ohms per channel?

From what I have read, the iNuke 6000 is more comfortable with 8Ω (even though it is rated at 4Ω).
An engineer at work has one and says his EP4000 has more slam in the bass.
I use Crest, if you could find a used one (9000 or 10000) that would probably do the job (but weigh a ton).

Someone on here just built a pair of cbe's, I forget who it was. There was a thread he started not too long ago, search around see what he says

The CA18's work pretty well with these boxes.

Looks like this thread, funny thing is OP never said what he thought of them...
would i be correct in thinking if i build 4 of the TH18's loaded with 18sound 2400's and power them with two qsc 4050's that would be fine.
for starters or am i still off base? if so would the 4050 power more that just the two or would it power just one. i intened to built 8 over the next few months but will start with two then move to four. help clarify this for me please thanks

I would work through this in stages, first build the two TH18's for the drivers you have.
Do some testing to see if the driver has enough excursion capability ~40-45Hz to satisfy your needs. If you need more excursion then try the B&C 18SW115-4.

thank you for the info. like i said im learning as i go and would like to know how i would be able to measure the excursion. also if i use the wrong amp will i damage the amp or speakers through testing? underpowering speakers as i have read can damage the amp or speakers, is this correct? i have a sound barrier 3400 and bridged it and used it on the two cabs i have now with the 18sound 2400s and it damaged the amp. cost $200 to have it repaired and i was told NEVER to bridge an amp. i need more input on this to understand why they would say not to bridge and why did it damage the amp running two 2400s. were the speakers too much for the amp?
Bridging in general is harder on the amp
With the 4050HD you'll be fine, that amp is made to run at even 2 ohms per channel (though I'd avoid that if possible)

Sorry, after 30 posts I'm at lost in what driver you're asking the question?! 🙂how i would be able to measure the excursion. also if i use the wrong amp will i damage the amp or speakers through testing? underpowering speakers as i have read can damage the amp or speakers, is this correct? ...
If possible post also the name of the sub enclosure or size/tuning.
I think you mention it's a dual parallel connection in each speaker or is it a single driver?!

First of all I have an inukedsp6000 and I love it. It is definitely not built as well as the nicer QSC or Crest stuff but it puts out a ton of power for the price, and the built in dsp functions are priceless if you don't already have one in your rack. I really don't think anyone could hear the difference playing live music. Playing 8 subs at a dubstep gig the bigger QSC's would definitely sound better. Here is a test of the Inuke Behringer inuke NU6000 vs KAM KXD7200 bench tested - Speakerplans.com Forums - Page 1
All of these amps that you are talking about have protection circuits built in and if setup properly will not damage your speakers. You cannot damage a speaker through under powering. If you already own the amp by all means use it!
If you are going to be running a big enough gig to want 8 or 16 subs than what the guys are recommending to you will be needed because the inuke will probably not hold up to the beating of night in and night out 6hrs at max output. By all means use it for tops though. I have been using mine 2-3 nights a week for 7 months now, and I used it for sub duty the first 3 months I had it. I replaced it with a QSC RMX 4050HD that I found used at Guitar Center. The QSC definitely sounded better with my subs. I can't hear any difference when on my tops.

^ that's what I was referring to when saying the new lesser amps are rated at 1% THD, 1khz power. The heavy older iron amps, or high quality newer amps (read big $$) will make subs sound different. A/B the amps and you'll see what I mean.
My crown xti 4000 couldn't compare to my QSC RMX 4050 that I have now, despite similar "power ratings"

still trying to find a qsc 4050 for a reasonable price, but for now i will test the cabs with the inuke6000
thanks guys
thanks guys
A/B the amps when you get the 4050hd. despite the inuke claiming almost double the power of the qsc, 1500 vs. 800 at 8ohms per channel, I bet you'll be happier with The qsc. 😉
And just so you're aware, I don't think you can bridge the inuke.

A/B means to compare the sound side-by-side, using the same program material, and the same speakers.
NU3000(DSP) and NU1000 can be bridged.
NU6000(DSP) cannot be bridged
The tested real output of an NU6000 is about 1100Wrms/ch @ 8Ω

hi to all, thanks so much for the information given. i built two of the th18s from the original design as suggested. i have 18sound 2400s loaded in them and they sound great but i have a few questions
1. is there something i need to connect to the speaker before the amp such as a filter or cross over? i notice a clicking sound whenever i add more power to the speaker and need to know what to do
2. i will build two more and load with bnc speakers, i will use more bracing and need a final design with cut sheet if not too much trouble. i have read and read and dont know which is the final design
3. after building the new ones should i fill all voids with foam or this is not needed?
4. i noticed some of the builders used plywood, can this build be done with ferolla or good one side ply?
5. i am using a behringer inuke 6000dsp for these two and have no idea how to set this amp for these drivers, i am learning as i go and any help would be greatly appreciated
6.i have a qsc 2450, would i be able to use this amp to power these subs as i was reading? or is this way too little power for these drivers?
7.which tops are suggested to build to go with the th18s?
thanks in advance for any help with the answers
