Need Help with 3M 6450

Hi,
I just bought a 3M 910 overhead projector and a 3M 6450 projection panel for my DIY projector. The panel has a HD15 connector marked monitor and a HD26 connector marked computer, I tried connecting the vga output from my pc to the monitor connector on the panel but no luck. I am wondring if some one can help me with the pinout for these connectors on the panel. Thanks.

If I remember correctly, you need a cable to go from the VGA output on the PC to the 26 pin input on the projection screen. The VGA output is to connect an external monitor from the panel.

I'm pretty sure I've seen some of these cables on eBay. If I happen across them, I'll post a link.

Cheers,

Greg

vga connector

I don't know anything about your panel, but my guess is the vga connector on your panel is a monitor redriver. In other words it is vga out, you would use it to display whatever the signal is that you put in with the 26 pin connector.

Someone with your panel may be able to give you the pinouts for the 26 pin? Or search the forum someone else may already have provided a source for the cable or the pin outs to make your own.

Hope this helps.

i had the same problem with my sharp panel i eventually gave up and bought a converter off ebay for 50 bucks that convert the vga to rca cable that i can hook to my panel of course if you dont have rca in plug on panel this wont work, but it works great not sure if quality of computer hooked direct would work better or not but sure beats trying to find the pin outs for the cable and 26 pin connectors were hard to find ,:clown:

Hey arsh, I found the pinout for building this cable.

26 to 15 Function

Pin Pin
4 - 3 Blue
5 - 2 Green
6 - 1 Red
13 - 8 Gnd (Blue Shield)
15 - 7 Gnd (Green Shield)
16 - 6 Gnd (Red Shield)
19 - 14 Sync (V sync)
20 - 13 Sync (H sync)

very easy to understand.

I'll build this cable and I'll post back the results. Wish me luck guys and hope I don't burn :hot: out the panel.......😀

Just happened to be passing... I quit DIYP a while back to go travelling and saw this post.

Another possibility. The following is a schematic for a DB25-DB15 converter cable that I made for a 3m5300 panel. You might want to try it out (with a HD26, of course) if the previously suggested schematic doesn't work.

FYI, the schematic came from service docs for the Ovation 810c panel. It took a LOT of research to find!!

Hi guys. I came back with good news. I just builded both cables and both worked perfectly; both pinouts worked for my projection panel (the panel did not burned :hot:ut).

Thanks vinyljunky for the diagram provided, it smoothly too.

Finding the HD26 connector was a little bit difficult, but I found it.

Thanks for the support guys.

3m 6450 power cable

I have recently acquired this 3M 6450 panel and will use the svideo input, but it didn't come with the necesarry power cable. It looks like a 7 pin DIN connector but i have no idea where to find or how to build this! The unit requires 15V DC which I can find but the wiring is gonna be a doozie. I see 6 pin DIN connectors but 7 pin! anyone??

Hi guys. I bought a used 3M 6450 projection panel for my rear projector. But didn't include the power cable. Draven 66 had the same problem. Did you manage to find a solution? Is it possible to build a power supply for this unit? How should it be wired?
