Is it possible to do a DIY pj without using any mirror?
If I put the light source on the viewing side of the LCD panel, would it be darker then putting the light source on the back light side of the LCD? Which way will give a better result?

Shining the light from the rear gives out better light when powered up i've found. You don't need mirrors. It's only when you want to fold the optical path to make smaller projectors.
i have been told that reversed lcd does look something worse than normal usage. (not much but noticeable).
The problem is that if we do not reverse the image, we need to do it with a mirror or digitally mirroring the image somehow (nvidia keystone for instance).

Rox, that's what I meant, if I have to have a correct image on the wall (i.e. same as viewing TV right side right, upside up) would we have to put the light behind the viewing side of the LCD panel (if I don't want to use a mirror)?
Which way is better, light from viewing side of LCD and no mirror, or light from back light side of LCD with a mirror.
Someone please tell me.
