If anyone does work on cd players and can tweek a modified deck back to working condition, I'd greatly appreciate it. I have a few ideas, but the most basic thing needing to be done is fixing of it.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
Hi Spiritzly
I guess we need some more info.
What brand, make/model is it, what exactly is wrong with it, what part is modified...
Welcome to the forum as well

Hello!
It is a Technics SL-P1200? dj type deck that was modded to be a non-oversampling deck. The headphone stage was modded though I'm sure that is ok. The outputs/inputs? on the deck were modded for single ended amps. There is also an 18db/octave lowpass instead of a lower order lowpass in it...I think this is a bad thing because I like hearing the fullrange and I believe it is this or the gain stage that was causing it to almost "clip" during dynamic passages. The clock may need replacing and it basically powers on, does not spin or play a disc.
I don't know much about it other than what the person told me. When working, it was fabulous, but didn't do well with dynamic passages. I wanted to get the thing back to working condition for starters, then to proceed and take out that 18db, maybe fix the clock with a nice stable device, and deal with the analog stage to see if it was causing the clipping...
Thanks!
