Need help deciding - Tower/Bookshelf Higher end Build

I will be building a Full Marty sub with an 18" UM18-22 to handle the low end.

2 woofers are much better than a single one. Even if they are smaller.

They can be places to acoustically create more balanced bass thru-out the room.

With woofers your mains only really need to reach into the 70s or so, so they can be XOed at 80 Hz.

Lots of info to take in, thanks all.

I'll throw up a link to a pic of the room so you can get an idea of where I'm at currently.
Current gear are some 10 year old JBL ES80 & JBL 12" Sub.

My reasoning for going for the Full marty 18" was it seems like a common endgame sub and I have the room there on the right hand side of that pic
to put one where the current sub is. I know the general consensus is two subs are always better, so i thought i may have to add another down the track.
I'm limited in this room as the only areas that are wired for subs are that front wall, i cant put subs on the sides or behind.

Looking at my space, what would you guys build?

It is by far the best solution in a large space

Disagree. Even outside (15 ft from the wall behind) they have the same kinds of issues. Go live with an open baffle you have tpo be able to live with the compromises. Many can’t.Room looks lkike a good candidate for 4 woofers. I’d go with 8 x 10”, push-push.

But at least 2. If that is where you have the mains i’d tuck them just inside.

A big sub in the corner is going to create maximum room modes. Maybe OK for earthquakes and train crashes, but not music.

It’s just 2 cap’s, 2 resistor’s, and 2 inductor’s - and with that pdf-paper could be modeled (though yeah, not exactly “plug-and-play”).

l’m guessing electrically (not acoustic) it’s 2nd order filters for each driver with reverse phase for the tweeter. There is another thread guessing as well, plus there are a few people out there that have built it and could probably tell you exactly what the values are as well as the wiring. Jeff passed from COVID 😢 and Meniscus doesn’t exist so there is no reason not to provide the information.
Mark is trying to get it setup where Jeff's widow still receives an amount from kit purchase, so it kinda does still matter. I don't know the timeframe on this.
