Hey , I just got around to registering here but have been keeping track with this site for a year or so .
I need some recomendations on which point light source to use .
I have already completed my first projector and have learned a lot from the experience .
I used the light engine out of a 3M 9000 projector which consisted of a reflector in the rear and condensor in front .
I used an 8" 800x600 LCD with two 330mm FL Fresnels between the light and the LCD . Then one 220mm FL Fresnel between the LCD and front lens .
The problem i have now is ........I am using a retrofited gy9.5 420w ,16000L ,3200K🙁 99CRI 120V Halogen bulb in it . The reason I used Halogen is because I can hook it directly up to a 120v wall outlet and I don't have to add the extra weight of a ballast .
As expected the Color Temp is pathetic and the image suffers as a result .
I have an excellent cooling system worked out to keep the LCD from overheating and it works just fine . But that is still a lot of heat to get rid of .
What i want to do is convert my Halogen light source to a 150w MH bulb . What do you think about these and what else (if anything) would you recommend
