Need extra gain for Pearl 1, is it possible

Hi, I have a Pearl 1 and have really injoyed it but I have some MM and MI cartridges I think would benefit from just a little more gain. If it is possible, is it an easy mod or would I be better off adding a SUT and use some MC I have. I would be scared of noise with this amp with a SUT, anyone tried a SUT, thanks for any suggestions.

The Hagerman Picollo look very interesting. How is the sound quality of Picollo is it on par with the Pearls sonics. Did you find any advantages other than gain needed like better bass or highs. Vinylkid how much total true max gain do you think you get with hagerman/Pearl combo? Looked up hagerman It's pretty cheap only $250. Zen mod I'll put up some pictures.

The jfet step up I referenced above is almost identical to the pass ono my stage and can be run off batteries. In fact, sounds better on batteries. If you use batteries you can leave out the regulator. I have tried both.

Your cost: 4 2sk170s, a 9v battery and $5 in parts.

I've always thought it was pretty decent. It's the original 1/2 kit version that was discontinued. I have it set at 12dB for my .9mv Glider. There's lots of gain with this combo.

I'm a bit surprised you're looking for more gain with a MM cartridge. The Pearl should have more than enough by itself.

I have a Soundsmith with 2.5mv that I would like to use, the MM sound good, one of them I want just a little extra gain. 6L6 I just fixed a noise problem with hum on this amp had to move boards and power supply's to quiet it down and don't want to fight noise again. I like Hikari1 idea with battery's also, I'm going to check it out.
