Hi guys,
I will start buiding a stereo tube amp soon, PCB based since I don't want to do point to point wiring since I am not confident about my planning, routing skills 🙄
I am considering a few bare PCB and kits (see below), anyone having an expirence building them ? Or theorical advices by looking at them ?
My dilemma is I know starting with DIY friendly kits from US/Germany should be a safer option, but Chineese kits are more complete and have apealing specs and tubes...
Main objective:
- $600 max for all but the case
- 8w per channel minimum with 8 Ohm load
- Looking for a warm sound
What are less or not important:
- Kind of tubes used
- SE or PP design (with respect of minimum power requirement)- Bass punch
- Absolute specs, I do it has a hobby and a way to continue my amp building explorations
Here are my shopping list:
- S5electronics K-16-LS full kit
Untitled (maybe with the tone tune module)
- German EL34 PP bare PCB
Platine f. Rohrenverstarker / PCB f. DIY Tube Amp 2x 6L6 / EL34 PP STEREO | eBay
- Chineese EL84 Push-pull class AB full kit or bare PCB

I saw a decent review of one of the EL34 single ended kits.
EL34-B Single Ended Stereo Amplifier
I'm doing the same research. I have a nice Dynaco sized chassis but already have a Dynaco so kind of hoping to find plans for a point to point 8 to 25 watt amplifier that identifies all necessary parts.

George Anderson of tubelab.com has popular PP & SE PCB's with a Forum on this site so lots of help.
Pete Millet has sweep tube PP amp PCB's that could be adapted to regular in production tubes if needed/wanted, plus info on his site for other amps/preamps he has built with some PCB's for those also. There are threads on this site on his popular sweep tube PP amps also.
