Need advice on subwoofer selection

Hello,
Thankful for all your posts in the forum, I've been reading it for some time and have learned a ton.
Hopefully I'll be able to contribute something to the community as well one day.
We have a 400 seat indoor venue ata Youth Camp that hosts our live band. We're running (2) QSC KW153's (15" 3-way speakers) for mains (flown above each half of the audience). We were running (2) cheap Harbinger 18 boxes that are being moved to another venue to replace (2) 12" subs that got blown..
:-[

So, now we need to build new subs for the main venue.. we can place them UNDER the stage if the cabinet is < 16" tall otherwise we have to find alternative locations or fly them.
The music played is contemporary Christian songs with some TOP 40 style beats (music only)

We have (1) QSC PLX1602 amp to power the sub(s). It's capable of 300w @ 8ohms, 500w @ 4ohms and 800w @ 2ohms or 1600w bridged at 4ohms.

We can run one or two subs, we just want something that will keep up with the mains and provide that 'chest thumping' bass and low end to cover the entire instrument range (bass, keys, drums).

I have extensive Home Audio and Car Audio experience so I understand box modeling, T/S params, speaker/enclosure/room interactions but am a total noob when it comes to Pro Audio.. which is why I've got my hat in my hands asking for advice from you, that have more experience!

The two designs we have been looking at: (though we're open to other suggestions):
Cubo 18 Extended with a PD.1850 or B&C 18NW100
- OR-
The Keystone TH running B&C 18SW115 - possibly just ONE, with the amp bridged to it ?? I know this seems counterintuitive, but with the excursion capability of this driver and double the power, one 18SW115 should be close to (2) PD.1850s or 18NW100's... or very close to it. Then we can build another when we have more in the budget.. and another amp.

Love to hear your thoughts on these, or recommendations for other enclosures we can DIY for this system.
@weltersys

If this is a semi permanent install and the stage is deep enough, I’d build 2 front loaded bass horns for sure where the drivers were at the back and the mouths of the horn opened at the front of the stage…….a stage depth of 10ft would be a real chest thumper with 2 15’s.

@weltersys yes, thank you for your thoughts on that. The amp we have will be upgraded later, but it's what we have to work with now. As for building vs buying, it's a matter of value - we can build a sub, if we select a properly designed enclosure and driver combo, and have better performance and possibly more fitting dimensions (no pun intended) than an off the shelf solution. We also know what we're getting - many used speakers are a gamble.

@mayhem13 Yes, this will be a permanent install so driver / enclosure weight, transport, etc. are irrelevant for this particular build. This is one of the reasons I am reaching out.. I have extensive experience building Sealed, BR, and BP enclosures but have never built a horn or any version of it. After seeing the benefits of a horn and knowing we have the space for one, whether is folder or not, I chose to see what could come of this type of enclosure design. I've searched but there seems to be little to no info, that i could find, on unfolded sub horns.. or one configured as you suggest. Do you have a link that you could share so I can see what you're referring to?

Your amping is nowhere near to drive whatever subs you want to get. Forget about excursion, what you want can only be achieved by massive cone surface or horns. I would not advise to get/build front loaded horns. Not flexible, would require your stage to be rebuild and susceptible to errors in build and handling (require dsp setup). The Cubo 18 Extended are good, 2-3 per side (better: center mono stack) should do it. You still need a dsp though and someone who can do the setup.

@ICG thanks for the suggestion. If we can't mount the sub(s) in the center (under the stage) we will likely place them on one side only.. with our last 18's being set at each side of the stage we experience the lovely result of the combing that creates.. won't do that again. Our stage is really the limiting factor at this point as we really don't want to fly subs unless we absolutely have to.
