Hello
I am at present using a Denon TU 260l fm tuner. I am very satisfied with it except it hasnt a headphone socket and I would like to listen on phones sometimes.
Does anyone know of a tuner with phone out of equal quality to the TU 260l

It should be possible to build a very simple headphone amp into the Denon. I suspect it has enough spare power to make it work. Maybe just a dual op amp with gain/volume is all it needs.
This one might need a gain tweak.

Virtually no dab signal here and fringe area fm reception.Pure Digital DRX 702 ES DAB/FM/AM
I have thought of that but there isnt any room on the front panel for a jack socket never mind a gain control. I could get them on the rear panel but thats realy difficult to get the phones out to use on the cd player. The obvious thing would be on the pre amp but thats a quad 34 so I wouldnt like to deface that.It should be possible to build a very simple headphone amp into the Denon. A decent fm tuner that had a bit of spare space on the front panel to modify would do the job.
Any ideas.

Given that you have one of the best , in my eyes , classic amps how about finding some Stax electrostatics which could be driven by their dedicated power amp via the Tape rec out.
Failing that i'll try to think of a suitable tuner to mod.

Thinking about it some more surely a headphone amp , which are everywhere now, connected to the rec outs would be the easiest solution .
Something like the classic Little Dot or one of Schiits models, or am i barking up the wrong tree?

I hadnt thought of using the tape outlet, it would seem to be the easiest idea, I will have a look at the schematic.

Perhaps on the back wih a flying socket if it helps. It's funny, my reason for that was if wanting to sell it on.
You know I have often thought preamps should have headphone sockets. Ones that could give 1 watt if required into 8 ohms ( call it 3 Vrms or 8.5 V pk_pk ).
