I have been building audio equipment (SS/tubes) for a lot of years and would say that I am an advanced amatuer with respect to assembly, construction, test, troubleshooting, etc. I now want to venture into the design world. Specifically, audio preamps and amplifiers. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions with respect to good basic books, tutorials, wikis on the subject. Thanks.
A good place to start: http://www.tubebooks.org/Books/intro_Crowhurst_Cooper_1956_High_Fidelity_Circuit_Design-2.pdf
Check out the other books by Crowhurst on the same site as well.

I've learned a lot from Morgan Jones 'Valve Amplifiers'
Valve Amplifiers, Fourth Edition: Morgan Jones: 9780080966403: Amazon.com: Books
The companion 'Building Valve Amplifiers' is also good, although it's possible if you've previous experience with assembling amps you might know a lot of what it has to say already.
I'm very new to this, and initially found the maths quite scary, but Mr Jones has a easy way in his writing style which makes understanding difficult concepts easier than some I've read. Plus he's quite funny at times, which you don't normally expect in this kind of text.
Matt.

Designing High Fidelity Tube Preamps by Merlin Blencowe is also a good book to read. Merlin is also a member here.

Don't forget the originals, http://www.tubebooks.org/Books/RDH4.pdf

Me self, I have read all the above books, and personally would recommend Morgan Jones 'Valve Amplifiers' as the first book, and the rest as you learn more. For deep lerarning, the Radiotron Designers Handbooks are excellent, RDH4 (raymas link) is a bit heavier in theory as compared to RDH3,

X2 and the guitar preamp book is also a great resource too, even for HiFi. It's helpful to see where the deviations are and why. I prefer these over Morgan Jones. Wish Merlin would do an output stage book (hint hint 🙂 )
