Need a good 1024x768 panel for DIY projector

Whats a good 1024x768 panel for a DIY projector? I want to build one such as http://www.geocities.com/zark5150/projector.html
but I do not want to use an overhead projector simply because i think its tacky 😀

I also have a few nooby questions...because I am sadly a nooby:
1) What type of input do LCD's use, is it some type of funky LCD input? Or is it just standard SVGA, etc
2) Where can I get a fresnel lense from?
3) Do I need any other expensive electronic parts for a DIY projector other than the lcd panel? No control units or anything, right? (Lights, fans, etc dont count for this)

I also would like to build a unit like this. The monitor I plan on ripping apart is the Norcent LM153 http://www.norcent.net/productDetail.asp?ID=1&CAT=LCD DISPLAYS

I have read through alot of pages this last week and have yet to find any info on how to make a unit like this with a 15 inch LCD monitor. I did see someone say it wont work but no reason as to why. Anyone have any extra info on using a 15 inch monitor in a diy non OHP unit?

dont want to go the Fresnels path if I wanted low quality I would not use the better res monitor.

he is right. If you get a high res screen and use a fresnel... you will not get good results. Are you using it for the lense, of the focus the light onto the lcd?
