Fender thought 16+16uFd was enough.
I'm the guy who just put a 6x6 beam where a 2x6 might have been fine, so I don't reject over-kill, but 15X oversize is mighty big.
(When you pull out the plug, the B+ will fall so slow the amp will play for some seconds, probably cutting-out on heater-cooling before B+ loss.)

I've gone for the Hoffman setup with the on board caps, but I was constructing the power supply without the next stage in mind.
Those smaller caps take care of the smoothing so I should do away with the 470uf then?

I have used these before and they work very well. Just add a HV CRCRC (2u2 450v film caps and 4R7 resistors) to clean it up. Use a 12v class 2 1000mA wall wart transformer to power it.
