Need a copy of Aikido 5687 manual pdf

Does anyone by any chance have a pdf of the manual for one of the earlier Aikido 5687 boards? I have version 4 2007 but have lost the manual. It is no longer available (that I can find) either on the tubecad or glassware sites.

thanks in advance

Bob

You're not alone in leaving the site with more questions than answers. That information that should have been there to begin with. He could reduce the largest quantity of mail if he actually put the technical information right on same page as the products.

Kouiky I know you were being sympathetic to me and I appreciate that, but as far as I'm concerned the man is a God and can basically do no wrong. That website is an International Treasure to tube DIYAudio community. Its mindboggling the amount of creativity accumulated on there. If he had been writing that stuff in the 50's, there would be a candle lit shrine for him in the AES building (assuming there is one somewhere) and probably a lot fewer endless williamson zombie clones.

Well, don't become too wrapped up to this deity, for he walks upon the same earth and breathes the same air. He has made several mistakes over the years, and that's besides his less than ideal grammer and spelling. Heck, I am typing from an iPod without spelling correction and I try. More than a few times I have also been given the impression that when he forgets an important value or component on his schematics, his third-person writing perspective and edits comprised of allusions to what should be there, are done to cover his own errors. Most of the circuits are rather generic and common knowledge. I seem to recall a page topic covering a supertriode circlotron, with several key components missing. This is common practice on his schematics, and it confuses readers. I recall he went on to make a mention of the omission of the plate and grid stoppers, which should have been there.

There is no reason among any good designers not to place these components on the diagram. The kicker was when he then mentioned how the DC coupling worried him. So, add the capacitors between the cathodes and gates! This is common understanding that I dare say a first year college student can grasp, it isn't some esoteric knowledge. It's fundamental electrical design, and a single capacitor on each channel isn't going to destroy the sound, but I can ensure a builder that its omission can lead to the destruction of the load device, be it headphones or the input stage of a solid state power amplifier. He then went on not just to the second schematic, but also a third and still didn't add the critical safety values.

This stuff boggles my mind, and I see people doing this all the time. It's monkey see, monkey do. If all people do is copy other people, these are the repeat mistakes they make. The danger here is someone set up a website and other followed suit. There was another deity on the Audio Asylum who was known for his work around the ST-70. He was Joe R. He couldn't do Ohm's Law for beans and would devise some of the most hairbrained schemes to reinvent the wheel, but people followed him around and hailed him as the reigning king of tube design. If someone types long and often enough, others believe they can do no wrong.
