DONT!
The 1560v does have 400:1 contrast but has a 40ms response time and it's not rapid response. Plus it doesnt have DVI connections.

And we have a winner!! As I type this I'm looking at my new (replacement) 1560M... and I have yet to see a dead pixel!
I'll be starting a new thread within the day.
On a side note, I was looking at the box the first bad unit came in... and I noticed... it was opened before I got it! The bottom was double taped. But done so to make it look like it wasnt. And the new unit was packed differently. Whos fault this is I dont know. But I wont flame the store I bought it from because they made good on the deal.

Ok then i hope no ribbons in the way when you open it!
Waitting for your results because i am about to buy one.
I am thinking between 1535vi and 1560m they have the same
specs but i do not know if 1535vi is rapid response.
Your info is critical as there is no info about the ribbons of the
1535vi and nobody seems to even heard about it before!
No one said anything about it when i posted.

The vi is either an older model or a european model not sold in the states by NEC. NEC doesnt have any current info posted.
I picked the 1560M because it's their newest model out with these specs. The vi if it is sold in the states... isnt as new.
NEC's "rapid response" guarantees you at least 33 fps... which is what we need. With their other models... even if they run at 25ms doesnt guarantee you 33 fps.
I would have opened this puppy up already but due to the pixel problems with the original I'd like to wait until Monday... just to make sure.
But like I said, I dont expect problems. For one the monitor is not super slim... it's made so that you can pull the lcd itself back inside the case and add a tocuhscreen. The base with the USB hub is also made to come off so you can hang the monitor on an arm off the wall... it has a built in power supply and all the connections are mounted in a 1 inch deep box that sits directly behind the screen... which would have to mean a long enough flex cable because the flex cable has to come off one of the sides of the LCD.
As soon as I start I'll post step by step pics. I'm also going to take pics of the LCD as is so everyone can see the quality stock.

I think 1560M is sold as 1560VM in Europe, prices in Germany start with 339 EUR. Considering the DVI-D interface it's a good buy (if we can only dismantle it first).
wow i cant believe this thread is still goin
