hi ywh
oh my god its ywh,<-- the reason i have gotten into this project.
i seen many projectors on this fourm but yours is "THE CATS ***"
it is i that is envious.

i rember reading a post that you might try a 15" monitor
it said you would change the lens setup there is no need to
all you have to do is create a bigger light stage the lens in the ohp will pickup the whole 12" and then some

i must admit i was skeptical about using a 15" when you kept telling ppl "its too big" i thought you actualy tryed it
but it is most certanly possible.

hi lifter

i recieved a reply from the place i bought the elmo ohp they are gonna send me a new fresnel and condensor lens btw what did the fresnel cost you ?
and some pics would be nice 😉

the next phase in the project will be a light conversion to metal halide the elmo has one but its to damn expensive i like the way ywh went for the light 250w wow with that good a picture i cant see any other way

well keep me posted on your progress

Lifter

Lifter, I just contacted bulb-source about buying a replacement elmo 305 replacement fresnel and they told me that they just stock a generic fresnel that fits various models. I was wondering if the fresnel you received was glass or plastic. The customer service rep at bulb-source isn't very informative and doesn't know if they are plastic, glass or even the dimensions of the lens. Any info you can give me would be appreciated.

Fresnels

Hi there,

The fresnels at bulb-source are the generic kind. They are plastic and according to the desciption of the sales person they are most probably single type fresnel lens (one side is grooved instead of both being smooth).

The ones at mbelectronics seem to be original replacement lenses. Check out this thread for more info.

lifter the fresnel from my elmo is plastic the part # is 4L30024

bulb but it is
the only glass fresnel im aware of is in the dukane 680.but i dont know if it is big enough,or how you would cut it to fit in your ohp

wow $50 for a single fresnel thats highway robery

Hi Negative Design

if it is so big more than 15" (diagonally) lcd monitor , i need it , i have never got someting out of shop, how to do it?

Im sorry i dont quite understand what you r trying to say, contact the seller for mre information. if you want to order it online you wil need a credit card and possibly pay pal or whatever is available to you in your location. Email the seller im sure he will be very cooperative.

Somebody is selling 4 Elmo 305's for $99 w/ the "buy it now" option. Not bad. The lamp and ballast is worth that alone. I got one for the fresnel and I can use the lamp for a future project. The reason it's cheap is because it's missing the top glass. Not a big deal.

thats the same place i got mine from $99.00 from inventory solutions they have good customer service too but i think negative design found a better deal i contacted alan from diy labs
and he has a 14"X14" fresnel for 29.99+5.00 shipping and its a double lens good show negative design

can u believe this this is the first reply i got from diy labs---->

It is a double fresnel that is manufactured by chemically binding the two lenses together in perfect alignment. The total overall focal length of the lens is 14", which is ideal for most projection setups

sounds good then i order one and heres the reply i get ----->

Hello,
The fresnel lens is actually 12.25x12.25 - I didn't have my information correct. It will work with up to a 15" LCD panel, which is the largest that most people are going to be using. I don't know of any double fresnels that are larger

is that shady or what!!!!
it looks like the the elmo lens i already have, oh well win some loose some, hey lifter wanna have a tea party we bolth have cupholders!!!

Well this LCD has gotten me a little bit more interested then the samsung being that it is pretty easy to take apart.

I am a little more interested in the 1550V though as it has a higher brightness and contrast ratios, 300 to 200 and 450 to 300.

Maybe this summer I will finally be able to build my big screen TV. Looks as if the parts are starting to come together then.
