Anyone have a Nakamichi Dragon? I am just wondering what all those knobs (or are they buttons) with no labels do (or do they say L and R on them? Anyway, its not clear to me). I have always wanted to know but have never dared to ask.
Here is a picture from a recent ebay auction.

Hi,
Those knobs are used for bias adjustment for diferent tapes (normal, chrom or metall) on two frequencies (400Hz and 10K or so). Profi Tascam Z5000 or 6000 used potenciometers.

exactly
and do not mess with them or they will give some weird results when recording.
I had a nakamichi k7 deck and I remember the adjustment was needed when using Grundig tapes and 'That's tapes (I cannot even find them anymore in the US and they were so goooooood sounding!!!!! back in the 80's )
channel separation or splitting I think it was called in the original manal but it's a long time ago and my memory is like a piece of Gruyere ......
