N-channel JFET + multiturn trimming potentiometer = variable constant current diode?

As the title says: Would a N-channel JFET (i.e. 2SK373) and a multiturn trimmer pot (hooked up as variable resistor) between source and gate give a variable constant current diode?

Yes, up to the IDSS of the JFET, and up to the max Vds as well, considering the heat dissipation of the device.
