Hello Folks,
Doing my first Vacuum amp recapping and I found this component. I guess it's a capacitor of some type since it seems to have a uf marking on it. Ca anyone enlighten me?
Shoudl I consider replacing it? I can't figure out it's value?!?
Many thanks,
Romain

Looks like a 1kV mica capacitor, but it's odd that the uF value is unmarked.
It could still be fine. Only replace it if you can measure the uF value,
which is probably something like 100pF, within an order of magnitude anyway.

Mica types can vary in appearance a lot, since they have been made for a very long time.
There's also a small chance that it's a paper type.

If there are dots on the other side, the colors of the dots indicate the value. Many refer to them as Domino caps. Internet search for domino cap color codes should tell you what the value is.
1000 Test voltage DC.
Mica caps are very good ones, I would not replace it. They usually don't leak nor vary its value, a thing that occurs with mica silvered.

Funny it says 0.000uF. ...
No, it says 0.000 uF. There is space for an ink-stamp number. Say "0.000 123 uF. Which has been washed off or faded with age.
At least with a Mica, if it gets overvolted, and the mica breaks down, it doesnt self heal - so generally you know if it's good or bad by insulation resistance alone..
Though the "Type MF" would lead me to believe its Mylar Film (i trust others here to believe its mica)
It looks very much like a load of caps I found recently, which are yellow soap bar type like these, and I believe are polycarbonate/mylar (especially since they are 2.2uG 250V and about 1" long)
