ok so i feel like a little bit of an idiot because i didn't read all the of thread for this amp that's been sitting at the top of the list... only read about half of it... and then noticed somebody else had already made a pcb for it. Either way.... i enjoy making things and i figured before i order the pcbs for $15/p i'd get advice on if my design is complete crap or not. I've done a bit of design and testing of boards before but i have NOT done an amplifier for audio... only extremely low voltage precision instrument amplifier circuits. i will include the eagle files and a short BOM and any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated 🙂
the idea behind this amp was class-d, high fidelity, small... <- in that order. so once i picked the amp chips that gave me the power that i wanted for a 2.1 setup of 2x 2way bookshelf speakers and an 8"-10" sub... i began picking components. after some research. Wima seemed to win out on the decent price and high quality category of film caps. while i wanted the pp caps for input... the size was killing me... and the reviews said there wasn't much of a difference between them and the polyester on the inputs... so i took the fidelity hit. (if it will be much more of a hit that a little please lemme know) I did the voltage to the best of my abilities on the outputs since i havn't dealt with high power circuits before. the amp doesn't output higher than 20v (from what the pdf claims)
2x TPA3116D2
22x pin headers
3x 505-MKS21/50/10 Wima Film Cap. 50v 1uF 10%
6x 710-7447452100 Wurth 10 uh 1kHz 4.7A
6x FCN1210A103J-G3 Cornell Film Capacitor .01UF 100V 5%
6x 667-ECH-U1H102JX5 film cap.1000pf 50v 5%
4x 505-MKS2.68/63/10 Wima Film Cap. 63V .68uF 10%
2x 505-MKS21/100/5 Wima Film Cap. 100V 1uF 5%
8x 505-MKP20.22/100/5 Wima Film Cap. 100V .22uF 5%
4x 647-UVR1V471MPD Nichicon Electrolytic Cap. 35V 470uF 20%
I didn't list any of the tiny power smoothing caps (which i figured i'd just go with whatever would fit in the 0805 size) or the gain setting cap. resistors aren't listed (i'm assuming all being 1/4w and standard low tolerance decent resistors is fine... i am however curious about the resistors in the EMI section of the circuit... i feel like 3.3 ohm at 1/4 might not be the proper rated resistor in the wattage category.
this circuit is almost entirely based on the one in the pdf for a workable circuit... i intend to add a volume control and adjust the gains to get the balance between the stereo speakers and sub close... so i don't have to adjust volume between them by much... This setup will be fed by an output from a usb dac that gives me Left, Right, and Sub outputs.
i'm aware that some of the components seem REALLY close together... example being the output capacitors... they are slightly smaller than the actual footprint since i couldn't find the proper footprint in eagle. and these will be the heatsinks for the amp chips... which i intend to put a tiny little fan in the case ^_^ http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51mgRyOYUCL._SL1100_.jpg
