My Projector Sucks Part II: The flee market

HELLO MIKE <> Thanks for the reply, EVEN if it isn't exactly music to my ears... What you told me parallels what I feared before starting on this, except I was thinking along the line of "poker chip sized" particles... But I decided to go ahead after finding an RCA 2.2" LCD hand held on Ebay, and buying it for what I considered to be a "song"... Maybe there will be some sour notes in that song!... It does have higher resolution than the one you were using, and I only intend to blow it up to 60" wide, so MAYBE it will be something I can live with... I already have several slide/film strip projectors, so this won't end up as a major investment... If you don't wet a line, you won't catch any fish, so I'm going to go ahead just as planned and keep my fingers crossed... As I said on the other board, if nothing else, this will be a learning experience!... AND what you already proved is that this is a valid idea, and if I find as you did, that the resolution is the limiting factor, then I will dig further into finding something of the right size that DOES have enough resolution... Again, thanks for the reply, and I WILL bring you up to speed when I have something definite to report... ;-}

HELLO MIKE <> Well, I told ya I'd let you know the results... In a word: DISASTER... Before I butchered up the hand held to get the LCD out, or the the projector to accept it, I rigged up a bazooka tube with my lens, and projected a wimpy, but revealing picture using fresh onboad batteries to light (dimly) the image... To enlarge my 1.75" wide image to 60" wide, would require 1,200 magnifications, and I could never even get close with this setup, but I did get about a 12" image, which revealed the expected, serious screen door!... At 5" the pixels would be the size of a saucer... RIP mini LCD projection system!... Nothing we didn't expect, but still somewhat a disappointment... Thanks for your input!...

This is what I tried for my first project...it was fine as long are as you are a Gerorges Seurat fan, Otherwise it was a waste of time and a perfectly good handheld tv 🙂 I would seriously suggest going for a normal size panel and overhead solution. Of course you could invest in a really high rez small lcd, but then that would be more expensive than an aveage commercial projector.

bulb realy 25hr live span?

I bought myself a similar projector (enna 300) and it also contains a cwd lamp.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Do you know if these lamps really only live for 25hrs? If so I could better look for some other option than this slide projector. Maybe i will then use the optics only. (there nice 😀)
