My Paradigm speaker cones don't move anymore.

The EV 30" woofer uses a paper cone,

Knowing that you read and researched all those links posted should of shown you that by putting foam on the BACK of the paper cone would make the cone thicker, much, much stiffer but not a lot heavier to allow much higher output. It is not stupid, it is the best way to do it.

EV makes pro sound drivers, you can't get them at Best Buy and are used by professionals with high prices to match. Since building a 16Hz woofer for a pipe organ requires a lot of engineering talent, EV was chosen for the brain power and their solution was very creative.

My Infinity Overture bi-amped speakers use polypropylene cones--very happy to know you won't be using them. 🙂 The JBL GTO 1214 I'll use for my horn loaded sub to play pipe organ with uses a polypropylene cone. They will be used in a garage and critters will eat paper--they leave poly alone. (It is called research on what is required to be used in a specific purpose with sound. My in house subs are paper and the garage subs are plastic for a reason)

The world's most powerful subwoofer in the world uses 40 aluminum cone 15" specially built MTX subwoofers...

Speakers are not what material used for the cones, domes or ribbons, there is no magic material and different materials are used depending on the specific requirements of the driver.

So we keep getting back to the specific requirements for the speaker and what design would give you that.

The best way to answer your questions is to do the research, learn how the science works, comprehend what the limits are and you'll reach the point of understanding. At that point, you'll laugh at yourself for doing something so ignorant and be thankful you're out only $10.

Education is expensive! Do the research, learn, understand and press on. If not, the lack of education in this case will become VERY expensive.

PS.... no band in their right mind would let you hook up to their PA and do 4Hz testing. If a band throws you out on the street for even asking, don't take it personally. A band is a team--there is no 4Hz in team.
