my own DIY CD PLAYER

for sure, I've already gathered the main parts for it, and Brian gave me a hand by providing me with some code (DSA interface).

But first of all, I'd like to achieve a clean PSU for the digital parts before going any further 😉

Yes I will program in C the contoller as as I'm not cumfortable with assembly 🙄 And there exists lot of C examples for AD conversion, controlling LCD and so one...

The Nico's psu seems to be nice for the 9V of the CDPro but I guess that the "would-be" Sultzer PSU I'm expecting to perform should work better for all digital parts (+/-5V, -15V DAC, +5V µC and LCD).

The main problems remains the mA. The PSU shown above could delivered 300-400mA. That could be short for the CDPro even if the datasheet indicated 100mA max for the +5V.

Hi
id just like to mention that ELEKTOR electronics magazine recently had an article showing how to use a COMPUTER atapi cd drive for audio with a few components...

Which issue please?

😎

Hi,

some news.

1- The PSU board for the controller, DAC, mechanics has been designing. It remains the delay issue see HERE

2- The controller board is completed (based on the PIC18F452)

3- The DAC is almost completed. It remains to check the routing. Please find the BOARD. The TOP layer is the GND plan, including some signal routes.

Do not hesitate to comment if you find something wrong.
😉

My CDPRO powersupply incorporates a pair of relays. The main power turns on the 9 Volt power supply which powers the drive and two relays. One relay turns on the 5 volt supply section, the second latches the 9 Volt supply on and a third relay powered by the 5 volt section reverses the power switch function so the 5 volt supply switches off first.

I know it is cumbersome but I needed a simple circuit to control several different power supply schemes. I have ALW regulators being fed by Digi01 and Bigparsnip rectifier boards.

I am still waiting for the promised interface for BrianGt's CDPRO controller that can provide a power up sequence via relays!

BTW this only works on my test bench as my unit is still in a bazillion pieces.

Regards

Anthony

Quite strange since I understood that the startup sequence should be the opposite.

The +5V for the servo first then the +9V for the mechanics..

While turning off, first the +9V then the +5V...

Hi Coulomb,
No, Brian either hasn't done them yet or has forgotten. As for my system, it has gone off the an English distributor to be waged against a Wadia. If it prevails, it will be taken to a HiFi show at the end of the month. Looking forward to the results...He will have received it today!
