As a long time fan of DIY projects I have decided to utilize the 3 empty EV ELX112 cabs I have in storage. My understanding of general speaker parameters is somewhat decent but as I started doing some research on this project it quickly got overwhelming.
Example:
What is the optimal size driver (these cabs) for a 2 way? 1 8", 1 10", 2 6.5" etc...
Should I use a horn, horn w/ tweeter or just a tweeter?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Well, you asked for opinions, so you may get a bunch.
Theater, i like a bit of punch.
Big 2 ways and sub.
Pa stuff works, especially for the money.
But you can do better.
For example, for dispersion of woofers, crossover points, i like 800hz for a 15", 1.2k for a 12", and 2k for an 8".
For best blending, have the exact same speaker across the front, rear would be nice also.
Maybe use your cabs with the diysoundgroup stuff ?

Most is out of stock.
They have done the footwork for you.
I'd look for htm 12" or 15" 2-ways.
Or go find 3 big used cerwin vegas.

The EV box was meant for a 12' and a small horn, which is a classic combo. Why not stick with that?
Do a search for the Econowave project. There are threads here and on other forums. Your cabinets would be a good place for the Econowave.
IME, it's hard to do better than pro drivers. But you can do cheaper. 😉
