The latter sounded much better to me.
Not only that but you also protect the little woofer from breaking. Last year i rebuilt a Z-5300 box and the cone of the speaker was unglued from the spider about half way. I glued it back on, measured the T/S parameters of the speaker and designed a 4th order bandpass to go with it - made for a much happier woofer.
Since I already have the unit taken apart, I figured I would replace the mini-woofer with an actual 10" woofer (after all, a matching hole has already been cut).
Four questions:
1. Should I buy a "woofer" or a "subwoofer" as a replacement? Sorry for the n00b question
2. Where should I go from here regarding the electronics?
3. What do the read-outs on my multimeter mean regarding the transformer?
4. Where can I buy a heatsink that I can attach to the chassis for better heat dissipation? I did a Google search and was overwhelmed - I have no idea where I should go.
Thanks everyone!
