My LCD projector build.....day one

Ok, I've been learning a little since last week when i first found this site.

I have this Starfire Dukane 4030 OHP that i bought unused to make a simple LCD projector. But i soon realized how much better it would be to make a box type like most of you guys are doing. I destroyed a few lcd's in process but now i've discovered how i can buy ffc extensions in case i need one for the next LCD.

First of all. I think i could use the 327mm projector lense that is at the top of the Dukane, right? but there is 16 inches between it and the aperature. Does this mean i will have to have 16 inches of space when i build my own box set up for it? or is there more room so you can write and put your arms between it while in use? (in other words, maybe the lense picks up more than the aperature)

cause i notice the design plans from that free site says to build 15 inch lcd projectors they're boxes aren't as big as i thought i'd need.

also, for those of you who think the aperatures are too small for putting 15 inch lcd on it. you can do what i did an take off the glass, then unscrew the fresnel, then dremel out the extra plastic. then put fresnel back in.

So is it ok to use my 327mm projector lense and make my own box? it's very nice and unused.... is it better than the 320mm?

also, i think i can reuse the 410 watt lighting system, the bulbs are really cheap and i have an extra.... i can even use the reflector...
so building a box will make even more light go through the lense, right?

this is how to make a 15 inch lcd fit on the Dukane Starfire 4030 which is a high quality projector.

the 11.5 inches of fresnel under the plastic and glass aperature is just big enough for a 15 inch diagonal lcd..........

but i want to build a box projector.

OH>>>

so if you were me, would you just use it? or would you buy two from that site and sandwich the lcd?

and so i was right to think there is a top and bottom of my fresnel...

this is because it's two different one's together as you pointed out.

thanks man, see how much i have to still learn?

someone on this forum should make a DIY LCD projector for dummies and get rich.

but you would get rich only because Sharp and the other companies will pay you TO NOT WRITE it in fear of loss of sales.
