I bought a rather cheap, on Amazon, composite video to HDMI adapter and used it to drive the LD into the TV ( And LG OLED ), Other than it was 4:3, the sound, color and detail were pretty good ( OK, the TV did a good job of upscaling it ).

I did find the torrent for 16mm copies of the first three, in the original cinema form, and they are actually really nice to watch, and flow much better as a story.
