John,
you don't happen to have the DK number handy, before i toss myself over the balcony ?
I gave up on finding a chassis mount 30Vac (or twin 15Vac), so anything will do.
Whaaaa??
Low power (<20VA) 30V, 15V-0-15V or twin 15V secondary chassis mount (clamp or toroid) transformers are as common as muck over here!
Do you guys have Farnell over there? A few to choose from:

Similar selection from RS Components too.......

Hi Jacco,
I used Digikey part MT2132-ND. This is a dual primary, dual secondary 28VAC, 12VA. It has pins for board mount, but I soldered leads and screwed it in place inside the "black box".

Thank you Elektor,
Not sure what you mean C13/14 comment. Can you clarify?
Very cold here this morning. I can't recall it being this cold before. A good day to DIY! (inside 😀 )

Yes, that's -36*C. 😱

Remember, mine is NOT the RMI, mine is an Abomination!
Sounds spectacular. The best amp I've built so far.
🙂
Thanks John for your impression. I'll surely build the RMI later. 😀

No symptoms of it here today! Burrrr!

If you look up, you will see John looking down.

What is the fluid used in a +50degC to -50degC thermometer?

Canada eh,

My fellow countrymen are embarrassed by my behavior sometimes so I've spared them the shame and took away my location. 😀

Hi Andrew,
I'm not sure what fluid is used but the thermometer is broken now. This leads me to the conclusion that it may have been even COLDER than -36!
According to the weather forecast on my email page this morning it is only -27*C today.
Normal for here at this time of the year is a bit warmer.
I am running some tests with RMAA to evaluate (objectively) the performance of this amp.
Results soon...
Results soon...
As promised. The tests were run at about 3 watts of output power (into 8 ohms). Both channels were tested at the same time and the results are for both.
First the overall scores. Ignore the stereo crosstalk - the attenuator I use has a common ground so it invalidates that test.
Next the THD:
Frequency response:
Noise:
IMD:
Not too shabby, what? I'll take it. 🙂
