Pleased to meet yall. Long time lurker just went to make my first post and was told to do this first, and so I will.
Im a winemaker etc by trade but have always been into HQ audio since I was a kid and enjoyed thanks to my dad. I was born in 75 for refrence.
I remember accompanying him to high end audio stores. He was into quality sound and had the means to do it. Looking back, not ultra high end per se but very, very good and well beyond the average consumer for sure. He had a McIntosh 4100, I also remember gear from luxman and nakamichi as well, a b&o turntable i think...multiple pairs of Klipsch and some jensen towers. Anyway it planted a seed. Im maybey more into gear per4 se than music but idk where to draw the line there. My taste I assume would be considered eclectic and random. Zappa since the get go thanks to columbia house tapes and cds. Then old school CA rap. Then the dead and alotta (too much ultimatley) phish. Then (and now) electronic, the dead, and Zappa deeper and deeper (dweezil too, what a son!). Little bits of other stuff throughout and now but i tend to get very deep into certain people and genres obsessivley for better or worse.
Four, maybe five years ago, i started building speakers. Ive long been a woodworker as well thanks to my dads dad (my grandpa). Actually, longer than 5 years ago I guess when i built my first subs. subs were the begining. evolving into two, three, and soon probably 4 way towers. I started by building traditional xovers and have now been into dsp based loudspeakers. Down the rabbit hole! Anyway, I have alot of fun designing and building speakers and have been really happy with my results as so far. Im actually considering making another business out of it. I feel confident in my speaker design, construction, testing, and results now. My issue now is fine tuning "my ultimate system" as far as what is on the opposite side of the speaker cables.
So that is it in a nutshell.
I now have the mac4100 and its acting as the preamp in my current dsp system as of last night. I am blown away by the difference that it made. It was the first time that i had been able to play vinyl on any of my dsp based speakers. Tonight im going to listen to digi files through the mac and im excited to hear the difference.
introduced at least mildly now.
Andy Carini here.
cheers!

Hi, welcome. I was reading the mac4100 specs: it has FET ( at input) Op Amps and electronic switches ( CD 4066 likes)
I'm waiting for the response about the difference between an analogue source (TT) and a digital one.
A correct test would be performed by making a full analogue path...as in the 'pick-up to moving membrane by the means of amplification system' ( and passive filters) and the cold digital stream + multi way active.
Using just the TT + phono pre+ preamplifier is just the half part of it.
About Ultimate and Speakers, I don't think wood is classified as a good material for the task. I mean, Ultimate!

Me too, been building three subs this summer. Never did one till now. Just playing with the amazing BT microdevice!
