hi
here is my first projector design using a 7" lcdfrom xenarc
the lighting unit is not directly attached to the rest of the box
as you can see the fans can cool the lcd and the airflow goes 1st in the lighting unit and the second avoid the heat to enter into the box
waiting for your replies

moi that will work but u might want to add another fan as an exhist fan at the back of the light to help the air flow out also the exhust fan will have to have the same amount of air flow as u got going in to be an efficient flow, i think also with having air directly on a lcd will give u a problem with dust and dirt.

Hi moi!
Pretty smart your construction. I have build such a projektors too, using a Lilliput 7" TV LCD.
I was considering these 7" LCDs from Xenarc too. here. As my LCD runs very hot after a few minutes, I was forced to mount a cooler next to the panel. Tip: take the fresnel back for about 2 inches! Otherwise the grooves of the fresnel will be projectet too, as the projektionlens do fokus on the LCD Level. got it?
BTW: Can these Xenarc 7" easy be dissmanteled? How much do they cost???

A tip, if you trow some sort of polarization film over the fresnel, you will loose some light, but the image will be sharper, and best of all it well run really cool.
thanks to you all

go the the thread :new high end 7" lcd projector (page 2)
trev gave me the "how to" for the xenarc 7"
trev what do you think about putting 2 very thin clear glass(1/2 millimeter) against the lcd to avoid dust
as the side of the projector can be removed, it' s easy to clean 'em
i think i'll put a "thermostat" that can turn off the light if the temperature goes high near the lcd
i'll try to build it first without the lcd but i'll put a transparent sheet with an image printed on with the same size and the same resolution
only to tune it
i know it won't work for the contrast but it can help for the temp and avoid me to put on and off the lcd .

thanks for the tip
where do you find the polirizing film?

moi u could use 2 peices of glass the wedge the lcd but u dont need to half of the time cos u use some of the casing that houses the lcd to mount it, u could put a small peice of glass infront of the lcd and behind the frensel for cleaning but it does use light, make sure its prety thin like some 2mm, as for the light u saw of mine well thats just the light lol i have another 2x fans pushing air in the main box and another 2x fans sucking the air out lol so in total i have 6 fans that are low rpm (typical 2500-3000rpm) that are quiet and shift 32cft/min each. The polarising film that verbose is going on about u can use but i dont, he has played with that not me lol anyway the place to get it is at 3m and u may beable to get a peice big enough if u ask for a sample pack.
