Indeed.

Any zobel or notch required ?
totally depends on the driver, from my understanding. haven't seen the alpair6 in many designs, but for the b3s, notch definitely yes, zobel definitely no.
in such a narrow cab as the Needle, you'll need a notch. the hump between 1 and 3kHz will colour the tonal balance too much imho. I've tried a lot of needles, and all required a notchfilter

correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought a notch was to fix specific resonant peaks arising due to the driver construction, and the bsc filter was for the low-medium frequency roll off due to the narrowness of the cab?
with a narrow cab as the Needle, the baffle step is not a nice clean 6dB rise over a couple of actaves, but usually shows a 2-3 dB hump. it is for this that I use the notch.
and yes, the sensitive ears among us, also apply notches to tame driver resonances

Primed and painted!! 😀 no more bare MDF look, and more importantly, no more MDF smell.
here they are after 2 coats of "MDF Primer" (which is apparently also a sealer, but obviously nowhere near as good as a dedicated sealer, especially on the edges) :
and here they are painted with "black cherry" paint!
I was aiming for a deep red, but got a more purply colour. paint sample cards lie i tells you! LIE!!
both primer and paint were applied with the good ol' brush technique, and as a result it actually looks like real wood was used because you can see and very slightly feel (after sanding with up to 2000 grit) the "grain", which is really just brush strokes

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

next time try tinting the primer as well
