None of my 7 cats over the decades has shown any interest to the various speakers over that period without grills, or those with grille cloth KEF, Magnaplanar, Martin Logan, Podium, ESL57 and currently Linkwitz LX521.4 with all drivers exposed. I count myself lucky.
The current incumbent -a huge 6.5kg monster - actually purrs while I clip his front claws. If I catch him in the right mood, the rear claws get a clip too And no interest at all in the open baffle Linkwitz.
But cats are creatures of habit. And it can be a real problem breaking the cycle.
Try catnip - either herbal or liquid concentrate. Mine goes into paroxysms of ecstasy over the stuff.

Glue needs to flex or it dont work, for foam dont know, maybe latex of some sort, rubber cement and patch that flexes.
Rest assured that Aleene's Original Tacky Glue, as referred to by @kstgr, remains flexible when dry and is suitable for use with foam rubber.
Watered down and applied to thin tissue paper, Aleene's should provide a flexible patch for a small area of cat's claw damage.
