My Box Caculator

Hello Everyone! 😀

My Rule Of Thumb is

QTS

0.1 - 0.26 = Front Horn Load

0.27 - 0.35 = Rear Horn Loaded

0.36 - 0.45 = Reflex In A Suitable Size Enclosure

0.46 - 0.6 = Reflex to Sealed In A "Why Do You Need Such A Big Box To Get A Flat Respose????!!!!??? 😱 :cannotbe: 🙁 :bawling:

What Is Your Box Calculator Method??

Some exceptional designer like Tom Danley can bend these rules, vis the LABhorn with a Qts of .39 and an Fs of 22

So EBP = 22/0.39 = 56

I don't do boxes.

Yes thats true. Unfortunatley, underprivilaged kids 🙂cannotbe: 🙁 ) like you and I, 🙂bawling: ) cannot call Eminence, and have a speaker designed to our specificatons. (Not without a major account ofcourse!)

In My "QTS Theory" I was reffering to front midrange drivers in addition to bass horns. After trying to be smart 🙄 and ordering a speaker on ebay, to replace speaker in a bass horn
(due to a loose/worn out suspension) I found myself putting it
back in the box (The new speaker) after A/B ing them and hearing
the 0.2 QTS driver (In the bass horn) destroying the 0.4 QTS driver (The new speaker) in the same bass horn. (Around a 4 dB
difference!!!)

On a side note. The Lab 12 requires a small box sealed box to get down low, and needs the horn to raise its efficency.

Put two Lab 12's in a vented cab, and @ 1 watt, 1 meter your
looking at 90dB @ 100Hz :xeye: :headbash:

If you're not going to use the LABs in a horn, my guess about the next best option would be push pull open baffles like the Linkwitz, EQ'd to heck and driven really hard. The Adire DPL12 is almost identical and it's apparently very good in an OB. Place the enclosure down next to the wall floor interface (Allison loading) and use a vertical extension panel 90* and vertical to the wall to make a baffle extension. Depending on the room and layout, it could be very good.
