Saw Board
edj23,
I have one of those clamping saw guides.... It stands forgotten in the shop/garage corner. If you need to cut a diagonal, or a length greater than the jaws of the clamp, you will need a different guide.
Try this one. Cheap and DIY:

This will allow you to get panels cut down to a size you can handle on the table saw. Get some good clamps, maybe a roller stand for the table saw, and you're off. Very accurate.
Then build a sled for your table saw - the BEST aid ever for accurate cuts and very little chip out when cross-cutting.

For me, stands should be solid, in the event you want to use then for other, heavier speakers someday. But that's your call. May be fine. I have light stands too. Adjustabe. I use one to hold a microphone. I like bass and dynamics too much for little speakers, except for the computer, and I use a sub for it, too.

Get a piece of threaded black iron pipe, of the length you wish the height of your stands to be, from HD or your local hardware store. Also, pick up two floor flanges per stand. Make a box about four inches high out of wood, leave the top off of the box.
Fill the box with concrete, sand, clay, etc. Screw top on box. Screw one floor flange to top of box.Screw in threaded pipe. screw other floor flange on to pipe. screw platform of wood to top floor flange. Paint as you see fit.
Or, if your parents are really cool, you could skip the bases all together, and just screw the bottom floor flanges to the floor.
found plans for these on a diy woodworking site

dougman,
I actually bought some stands from PE back when I was doing this project. The stands were perfect size for these little cabinets and were pretty sturdy.
Unfortunately I decided to route a roundover on the entire box. This was a poor decision since at the time I was not very good with my router. Anyway I ended up plunging the roundover bit a little bit too far and basically ruined the cabinets.
Now I use my TB w3-871s as test speakers to make sure my amp is not going to ruin other speakers. I'm going to build some Needles this summer perhaps as a going away present for my parents.
Thanks,
Josh
