Hi All,
I'm new to this music server thing. I was wondering
if theres any good diy projects which can store CD's
without compression & yet could reproduce good
sound. BTW any one tried the Brennan JB7 ?
I read that one can disable MP3. Do you guys
think that theres potential to pogee this server ?
Thanks in advance

Take a look at my old server thread here:

Server is still in everyday use and performs extremely well.
I use lossless compression (FLAC) in order to make the most of hard drive space. I currently have several hundred titles on the server in this format.
The hardware is obviously obsolete given that the server is now 3 years old, but there is plenty of useful information nonetheless.
Linux is a better option today than it was 3 yrs ago, helping to keep costs reasonable.

There is a simpler solution.
extract all your cd in wav to a 1TB harddisk and put it in the tvix.
You can either directly use the analog out or digital out with a good dac.

I use the older model with 500GB. The digital out is very good.

Hi Chuck,
inspired by your work with the Tvix M-3000 and TDA1541A I decided to get a tvix player too (M-3100U).
Is there any particular care to use to open the case without damaging it?
Cheers
Andrea

I damage the case too when I open it, it wasn't easy.
But if you plan to tap the I2S, you'll probably have to put that thing into another box.
BTW, I now use the M4000 with the digital out to deq2496
The TVIX/TDA1541 is very musical, but I want to use the deq2496.

That's bad news.... I bought the M-3100U because it is quite nice and also because I (erroneously) thought that, having a VFD display, it would allow me to operate without a TV but it doesn't seem so.
If someone has a trick to open it...
Cheers
Andrea
