Multisim student edition features and download

Hi,
i would like to start to simulate some very basic analog circuits with bjts.
I saw some distortion spectra created with Multisim and i liked them very much

I have some questions about the Student edition:

1) is it possible to calculate the distortion spectra with it ?
2) how many bjts models are included ? there is a list of all bjt models available ?
3) is more user friendly than LTSpice ? because i am very willing to pay for something easier to use.

Moreover i tried to download the Student edition but i am not a real student, just a amateur ... so i have no university to name and so on.
What can i do to try it ?
Really my only goal is to get distortion graphs like one of this ...

I am afraid this is very beyond my ability to understand
I have no scientific background but i am stubborn enough to want to try a simulation with the easiest SW around
Having problems with Multisim download i have now installe LTSpice and found a nice tutorial on youtube
I will start this weekend from this
At school i was better in the lab than with math, and this is my biggest regrets
Because math is above all other things

Hi, i use an earlier version of MS & love it.
I find it easier to use than LTS & better looking etc.
You can get a Free trial here https://lumen.ni.com/nicif/us/evalmultisim/content.xhtml for Company Name etc just put None

Your opinion confirms what i have read about MS being more user friendly
But i notice that LTSpice is very popular anyway
I have now downloaded it and found a nice basic tutorial on youtube
There are others of these tutorials that i find very interesting
Anyway i will look at the link you mention
My only aim is to be able to run some distortion analysis of very very basic circuits (my only interest for now is for line stages, low power low gain)
I am always amazed to hear how big difference a line stage can make

I have messed with such sim's a few times but I am not in any way proficient at them.
I found it most useful that it does do such sim's.
Although I never figured out how to make it give me THD in percent.
It is just a matter of me taking more time to work with it is all.

As you can very well understand i am slow to catch things and i even did not understand that you were answering to my very main questions 😱
I will need some time to read all the stuff ... and yes the FFT and THD analysis is what amazes and interests me mostly 😉
I guess, but i could be wrong, these are the very basic method to understand the quality of a circuit 🙄
I realize that the simulation is only the first step to actually build a circuit
And that also lay-out plays an important role and real performances can be quite different from the simulation results
But i am focussing in extremely basic topologies to see how much performance can be obtained from them, with the hope that the lay-out for this very basic circuits will be less critical
Anyway i will read a lot and maybe i will be asking other questions 😱

I am self taught myself and there are many things I am still learning as well.

I found the calculators because of necessity, I have used circuitmaker for years and just found out recently that it does FFT's as well only it displays them as either voltage levels or sometimes in db depending on what version I am using, demo or full version.

Then I stumbled on the thread about FFT's in LTspice and a whole new world opened up for me!!

Yes , layout can effect performance quite a bit sometimes but if you follow the basic rules of decoupling, ground loops, star connections as well as ground plane use and such, you shouldn't have many problems.

Else, There is this forum and many many threads discussing such issues.

I have learned a lot about this stuff and more as well since I have been active in the forum in the last few years rather than just lurking like I have been since it came about.

I do not understand at all what i am doing, i just follow instructions 😀😱
But i like them very much
Actually after seeing these plots i wonder if in a line stage 20 and more active devices per channel like in a preamp i have are really needed 🙄

This is also the reason why i would like to keep things as simplest as possible
I have already ordere some breadboards
If the prototype will sound good i could leave them even on the breadboard ?
