I have been looking around the net quite a bit on designs featuring the ATC midrange. I have yet to see one that uses multiples, in MTM or any other arrangement, while every other high end, high sensetivity mid can be found as such... Anything from the Triangles to the PHLs to the Focals. So the question is why not the ATC? Wouldn't a full range speaker with, say, a high sensetivity 18 inch driver crossed over at 150 Hz, and a dedicated high sensitivity 10 inch mid-bass, benefit from the added mid-range support of a second ATC midrange. After all, if a tweeter (or another high frequency device) is to be crossed over at 3K+, it can produce ALOT of output...

I know it's not a proper reply to your question, but there is a very subtle, understated English phrase, that applies very well to single ATC domes, - "An elegant sufficiency"😉

A year ago I was targeting a similar
design using a single 18", dual 10"
midbass (maybe 12") and small line
source (not ATC), but PHL midrange
and some planar tweeters.
I had troubles trying to
find a high sensitivity 18" that
would "go very low", plus finding one
that sounds good up to 300hz - 500hz,
and to complicate matters, one that gives me enough output to keep up
with the line source.
The next problem was finding a good
midbass driver that sounded good,
perhaps to operate from 100hz - 500hz. Eminence Beta 10"? Eminence
Omega 12" ? You would think that even
a cheap speaker can operate well in
that small sonic gap... I ordered some
of these speakers to audition the
sonics. Another solution was to use the
PHL 12" which I didn't order to test out.
Then, Mr. Wizard on Madisound found
the elegant solution for me, to use
dual Lambda TD15 woofers in a simpler
3 way design not 4 way. I added another woofer to the design to make it three 15's.
This solved many issues.
1. The woofer works great in either a
sealed or ported box, I prefer ported.
2. The woofer has pretty good sensitivity and 10mm xmax.
3. It's a wideband driver so it sounds
awesome playing full range, you get
great sounding bass/midbass and even
midrange out of ths woofer. Sounded
better playing midrange than any other
driver I tried.
4. Three 15's per cabinet will out displace a single 18 and dual 12's,
the old design.
I think a single TD15H in a ported box
(6" rear port), ATC midrange, and
whatever tweeter you like, would make
a great sounding system. You can crossover those Lambda's pretty high
to integrate with the ATC midrange
while retaining great sonics.

For this application, you want
the Faraday motor version, not
LE version.
If money is no object, get the Apollo
motor, that is what I got.

I'v heard nothing but good things about the Lambdas. But from what I understand, ATC integrates very well with Volt drivers. They have an awsome 18 inch with a radial heatsink/phase plug thingy, and something like 96 sensetivity with 700W power handling. As far as mid-bass, I have heard that the Volt is great also. Up untill now I have done much research on the Focal subs, but am now also interested in the Volts. Here are some designs that give me much inspiration

My speaker and amplifier project is werk-in-progress
for the past few years. I'm in the "collecting drivers" stage,
and my Lambda Apollo order is on backorder. I also have
another vendor taking months to complete some machining.
..slow..
I expect to have all my tweeters within the next two months..
I still have to finalize the drawings on CAD and get more
machining done...
While I wait, I worked on the amplifier project for the past
two months and just finished pcb layout.
Only if money grows on trees... I'd been done.
