Good day guys i have MTX Thunder 942 seemingly a strand of wire shorted between output fet (FET208). FET201 is shorted along with damages to R220, R218, R217, R211 those i can get the readings from the opposite channel but my problem is the transistors Q210, Q215, Q223, Q219 what are the part numbers or the thru-hole equivalent?

Yup the markings are there but sometimes the smd results can be more confusing on transistors. its simplier for the 1D and 2D smd but i just want to know the part number equivalents for what i mention earlier like what is 2Gv marking in standard transistor type (mmba??).

In the rare instance where you have two different transistors with the same markings in the same case (SOT-23 here), find the complementary transistor in the circuit and look up the markings for both. If they cross to two complementary transistors, you probably have the correct part number.

When there is still confusion, you can go to polarity (NPN/PNP).

Here, you can ask the manufacturer.

For equivalents, you can generally just change the prefix. MMBTA06 = MPSA06, etc.

Good morning Mr Babin, what I really would love to get cleared on the part markings then is....you'd have an smd in this particular amp with a 2G with a small x to the far right on the transistor then you'd see another one with same 2G with a b to the far right as well, my question is "should I be just focused on the part number by the first 2 characters?"

As far as I know, there are no defined standards for marking.

The large print is generally most important.

The case/package is also critical. This sometimes measuring the package accurately with a dial/digital caliper.

You can then go to a cross-reference site for markings and see what most closely matches. From that point, you may have to download multiple datasheets to find complementary parts, polarity, etc to try to make an educated guess.

The markings often include date/production codes that are printed on the component in various configurations. Those can sometimes help determine what the component is.

Anyone else who has suggestions should post them.

Thanks for all the help, tips and eye openers. the amp is up and running playing hard for almost a week now. ive realize that most of the markings are not aligned to one particular part number especially with the 1GM and 1G-(hyphen), but knowing the design factor that MTX uses i was able to find other SMD's that was used on another MTX board that portrays the same (or close) circutrics of the one I was working on.
Ive made some notes on my findings so my educated guess Mr Babin will be more determined in the future.

No I did not, I gave thought to your quote about how at times you'd make an educated guess.
The 1GM is MMBTA06 and I found another MTX amp board using 1G-(hyphen) in areas the 1GM is used. I studied both circuit and realize that the power supply PWM circuit is the same. So 1G- would not be BC847 but more like MMBTA06. And most Mtx I worked on normally have an array of A06, A42,A96..etc
Took me a little time but I made an educated guess.
