Using Rookie's basic 4 chip amp as the starting point..http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=131486#post131486 from the first MSSC thread. Since no further great thoughts were forthcoming on the subject, I decided I might as well burn up my own parts and build the thing. So they are on the way.
Starting from the powersupply, OPA549 can go -/+ 30, while AD811 wants -/+ 15 max. Since the higher you drive 811, the closer the 549 can operate at unity gain, it seems those should be my targets. If major objective is to keep parts count down, without hurting the sonics of the amp, simple regulation seems to be ok. Most of the noise issues talked about in the data sheet address video bandwidth requirements, not audio. But since most of the gain is in this chip, I am wondering to what efforts I should go beyond bypassing to make sure noise is not injected through the powersupply for this chip. Suggested schemes for using 30v transfo to give me this supply? I am not sure where the breakpoint is between really simple voltage regulator ic and a more sophisticated idea.
