I have the near future opportunity to buy a used MSB Select DAC II from my audiophile friend who is in the process of upgrading his whole system (again). I like the aesthetics, it integrates well into my system. The idea is to use my Wadia6 transport with it. I did listen to it several times at the friends house, but unlike me he has a "listening room" specifically designed under ground in his house which is acoustically absolutely dead quiet. You can literally hear a pin drop. To my ageing ears it does sounds better than the Wadia's DAC (on his current system using B&W 801s). What do you experts think, am I just wasting money or might it be a worthwhile acquisition?
A deciding factor with all the both affordable and good recent DACs is the price you will have to pay. There are houses that are cheaper than that DAC.
